Blood, Bone & Poultry Manure Pellets 100% chemical-free organic fertiliser

Blood, Bone & Poultry Manure Pellets 100% chemical-free organic fertiliser

Three of nature’s most trusted ingredients. Zero chemicals.

SoilWorx Manure, Blood and Bone Pellets take the time-honoured tradition of blood and bone fertiliser and improve it with modern organic manufacturing. By combining three of nature’s oldest and most effective organic ingredients — blood, bone and poultry manure — we’ve created a unique, 100% chemical-free blend that delivers the highest levels of nitrogen alongside rich organic carbon, trace elements and growth-promoting micro-nutrients.

Made in the UK from the highest quality, locally sourced, sustainable raw materials, this is blood and bone fertiliser as it should be — pure, potent and produced to the highest standards.

What makes this blend special?

Traditional blood fish and bone has been a gardener’s staple for generations, and for good reason — it works. SoilWorx has taken this proven concept and improved it by replacing fish meal with organic poultry manure, creating a blend that’s richer in organic matter and more consistent in quality.

Blood — The Nitrogen Powerhouse

Blood meal is one of the richest natural sources of nitrogen, the nutrient most responsible for strong, leafy growth. It delivers fast-acting nitrogen that gets your plants growing quickly in spring.

Bone — The Root Builder

Bone meal provides slow-release phosphorus, essential for root development, flowering and fruit production. It breaks down gradually in the soil, providing sustained nutrition over months rather than weeks.

Poultry Manure — The Complete Package

SoilWorx organic poultry manure adds balanced NPK, high organic matter, trace elements and the soil-conditioning properties that make this blend far more than just a fertiliser. It’s a soil improver too.

The result is an NPK of 6-5-4 — the highest nitrogen formulation in the SoilWorx retail range, making it the ideal choice for hungry crops, lush lawns and vigorous growth.

Key benefits

  • 100% chemical free
No synthetic additives, no manufactured chemicals, no fillers. Every ingredient is natural, organic and sustainably sourced. What goes into your soil is exactly what nature intended.
  • UK made, locally sourced
Manufactured at the SoilWorx plant in Newry, Northern Ireland, using raw materials sourced from UK and Irish agriculture. Shorter supply chains mean a lower carbon footprint and fresher, more consistent product.
  • High in organic carbon
Organic carbon is the foundation of healthy soil. It feeds soil microorganisms, improves soil structure, increases water retention and builds long-term fertility. SoilWorx Manure, Blood and Bone Pellets deliver much more organic carbon than standard blood fish and bone products.
  • Rich in trace elements
Beyond the primary NPK nutrients, this blend provides a natural spectrum of micronutrients — including calcium, magnesium, sulphur, iron and manganese — that support balanced, healthy growth and help prevent common nutrient deficiencies.
  • Pelleted for easy application
Uniform pellets spread evenly and consistently, by hand or with a spreader. No dust, no clumping, no waste.

SoilWorx vs standard blood fish and bone

Most blood fish and bone products on the market use fish meal as the third ingredient. SoilWorx replaces fish meal with organic poultry manure, which offers several advantages:

  • Higher organic matter content — poultry manure adds far more organic carbon to the soil than fish meal
  • Better soil conditioning — the organic matter improves soil structure and biological activity
  • More consistent formulation — manufactured under controlled conditions rather than dependent on variable fish meal quality
  • UK sourced — locally produced ingredients with full traceability
  • Lower odour — heat-treated poultry manure is considerably less pungent than fish meal

If you’ve been using blood fish and bone for years and it’s worked well, SoilWorx Manure, Blood and Bone Pellets will do everything you’re used to – and more.

Frequently asked questions

Blood fish and bone (or in SoilWorx’s formulation Manure, Blood and Bone Pellets) is a general-purpose organic fertiliser suitable for virtually everything in the garden. It’s particularly effective for feeding lawns, roses, fruit trees, vegetables and flowering borders. The balanced NPK provides nitrogen for leaf growth, phosphorus for roots and flowers, and potassium for overall plant health. It’s one of the most versatile organic fertilisers available.

Yes, excellent. The NPK of 6-5-4 provides the higher nitrogen level that lawns need for thick, green growth, while the phosphorus supports strong root development. Apply at 100g per square metre in March or April, water in well, and you’ll see a noticeable improvement within 2-3 weeks. The slow-release formulation feeds steadily without causing the surge-and-fade you get with synthetic lawn feeds.

Yes. SoilWorx Manure, Blood and Bone Pellets are 100% chemical free and made entirely from natural ingredients, making them ideal for vegetable gardens and allotments. Apply at 200g per square metre before planting or sowing, and top-dress hungry crops like brassicas, courgettes and sweetcorn every 6-8 weeks during the growing season.

SoilWorx Manure, Blood and Bone Pellets are 100% chemical free and made from natural, sustainably sourced ingredients. They’re suitable for organic growing practices. For certified organic production, check with your certification body – our standard chicken manure pellets carry OMRI and Organic Trust certification.

Apply from March through September, during the active growing season. Spring is the most important application window — apply when you see the first signs of new growth. For roses, apply in March and again in June after the first flush of flowers. For vegetables, apply before planting and repeat every 6-8 weeks. Avoid applying in autumn or winter when plants are dormant and nutrients may be washed away by rain.

For general garden use, apply 100g per square metre — that’s roughly a large handful per square metre. For fast-growing vegetables and annual flowers, increase to 200g per square metre. For trees and shrubs, use 300g per square metre, working the pellets into the soil around the root zone. It’s better to apply at the recommended rate and reapply than to over-apply in one go.
